This is my favourite image of the Queenstown region. Looking along the Shotover Valley, the snow had not long fallen and the trees were in a vibrant fall (autumn) setting. I wanted to capture the view as if it was painted. I often like to do that. Create an artistic interpretation of somewhere, by making it look as though it is not a photograph.

PHOTO TIP

Before you travel somewhere get online and see what other photographers have captured from the places you are going to. See how they interpret the scenes, the views, the landmarks and the settings. I’ve often drawn inspiration from painters like Monet and Behrens and their landscape scenes. Remember you are an artist as mush as you are a photographer.
