The old wharf at Glenorchy is a tourists hotspot. Photographers flock to this place all year round, but not on this occasion. It was eerie, but there was no-one around the entire wharf area, almost as if Glenorchy was abandoned. The light across the whole area warmed and I was in love at that very moment. Ok I wasn’t but it felt like it. I spent some time catching the light rays through these old willow trees on the edge of the lake that reminded me of reindeer antlers in a marching formation.

PHOTO TIP

If you find yourself in a situation where your landscape photography is not impeded by any tourists, savour that moment. Then shout for joy, and get on with capturing the image. It won’t always be like that. But one thing, on a serious note, to remember is to slow down and capture everything you can about the scene or area, whilst you can. Oh, and don’t be bummed out if you miss a shot because a tourist shows up. I have missed a lot of great shots because someone has just plain ruined a shot by walking through it, or having no spacial awareness of what you are doing. Never get angry, there is no point, just be patient, they’ll either leave or you’ll find a better shot.
