I saw this image from way off in the distance. Imagine a tiny corner of an entire scene, back by the fading sunset behind the hillside. For a slight second I originally thought the trees were people walking up a hillside and I wondered what the were all doing. I zoomed in as far as my lens would go and realised they were trees. Yeah I know my eyes are crap, alright! Anyway, I took the scene for what I saw, a race up a hill, like contenders in a hill challenge.

I love to create an imaginary context to some images. You can do this by manipulating light and shadow in such as away that alternate shapes are formed in either one. Silhouetting can use angle you like to adjust the shape and form the subject you are silhouetting. Think of when your friends standing between you and the sun. They cause a silhouette. Depending on what pose you ask them to make, you can create shapes out them. Your eyes adjust so you can see them fairly well, but a camera can’t see the sun and the shadow, only one or the other. Thats why its so easy to play around with silhouettes in photography, especially black and white.
