This is one of the most famous landmarks in New York, the Red Cube. I bet you’re guessing why I chose black and white, right? The red was a distraction from the boy, who is my real subject. This little boy ran up and yelled at me, “look at me, I’m strong”. Yes little man it appears you are! I had to capture his image. His parents thanked me for interacting with him.  I thinks it’s a great playful image.

PHOTO TIP

Spontaneity is king in so many ways. We as photographers, often get thrust into having to capture a shot with accuracy and speed in a fews seconds notice.  I’ve said it a few times on the gallery, but having your camera preset to certain settings helps a great deal. Most cameras allow you to have presets that you can set up and choose with the turn of a single dial. I have one for fast shutter speeds, one for extreme darkness, and one for long exposures. I know what the settings are and if I need to employ them I can simply switch straight to them in a moments notice.
