ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Heartbeat, Antelope Canyon, Arizona – Steve Rutherford Landscape Photography Art Gallery

This is an unframed, limited edition collection landscape photography print of only 25 units. It is printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl papers, structured to refract the highest values in colour and detail. It’s high-quality ink absorbing layer enables exceptional image quality with enormously detailed sharpness, and a very broad colour range, providing archival permanency of your artwork for over 100 years.

CAPTURE DETAILS

On tripod, Canon 5DMk2, 140mm, F10, 8 seconds, ISO 100, no filter, processed in Lightroom.

This was a particularly hard image to capture. I was in a very narrow passageway, jammed against a sandstone block, and almost looking vertically straight up. The tiniest of movements whilst zoomed in so far meant the composition would be changed dramatically. It took me a fair few moments to get the framing right. A series of 4 different exposures was needed to produce this image, such was the difference in lighting between the shadows and the highlights

PHOTO TIP

A tripod will make your life so much easier in many, many ways. When choosing a tripod for situations such as this type of image, choose something that has a good comfortable height. The head of the tripod should be at east to your neck height without the centre post being extended. It should be able to manage at least twice the weight of your camera with the lens extended, and it should have a centre post hook to hang a weight off, such as your camera bag of needed. This will serve you as a very sturdy platform for dead still images.
