ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Rees Hut, Glenorchy, Otago, NZ – Steve Rutherford Landscape Photography Art Gallery

This is an unframed, limited edition collection, landscape photography print of only 25 units. It is printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl papers, structured to refract the highest values in colour and detail. It’s high-quality ink absorbing layer enables exceptional image quality with enormously detailed sharpness, and a very broad colour range, providing archival permanency of your artwork for over 100 years.

CAPTURE DETAILS

On tripod, Canon 5DMk2, 55mm, F9, 1/160th sec, ISO 100, no filter, processed in Lightroom.

This was a small derelict house on the edge of the Rees River, flowing through from the Routeburn track to Lake Wakatipu on the northern end. I don’t think Ive ever seen a more beautiful setting. The property itself was complete ruined internally but from the outside, it reminded me of mountain life 100 years ago. I don’t know how long the paint on the roof had been there, but it was peeling and old, but its colour was just perfect to give the image some vibrancy.

PHOTO TIP

Look for a distinguishing feature from your image. A single block of colour, the play of light and shadow in opposing directions, the eye of your subject. These all create a subconscious drawcard for your audience to not just want to look but have to look at your image. Don’t believe me? Try it with any image that you know has a string distinguishing feature and see how many wows you get when you show people.
